Plant Based On The Rise!

While the number of Vegetarians & Vegans has remained steady and relatively small for at least 20 years, those who describe themselves as FLEXITARIAN have grown much faster, to 36%, with greater numbers among Millennial and Gen Z demographic groups. Plant Based - Think Beyond The Usual Categories
While most plant-based products have focused on meat and milk/dairy, there are still gaps in other categories, like desserts and bakery. Plant-based needs to go beyond trying to replace the animal component and instead find new ingredients and processes that are better from both nutritional and sustainability standpoints.
Going forward, plant-based products will need to clearly demonstrate how they are either ‘Better for You’ or 'Better for the Planet’ to continue consumer adoption.
